Ferriprox monotherapy is indicated for the treatment of iron overload in patients with thalassemia major when current chelation therapy is contraindicated or inadequate.
The active ingredient in Ferriprox is deferiprone. Deferiprone is an oral iron chelator, it helps in reducing an iron overload in the body.
In the Netherlands Ferriprox is available in tablets (500mg) and as an oral solution (100mg/ml).
